The Liar

On the day that you open your eyes to see the world for the first time

It’s put there in your brand new little mind

Your eyes aren’t able to see clear quite yet

And you rely on the familiar voices to get your needs met

As you quickly grow in that first year

It’s already started instilling fear

You aren’t even aware it’s happening at all

It works hard hoping someday you’ll fall

As you grow older you later find

The strongholds that were created in your mind

It could be from the parents who brought you into this world that is broken

Or from harsh words from peers that were spoken

Maybe a person who promised to be here forever and left

Leaving you with memories you just can’t forget

It’s there taunting and twisting these things around on you

It’s your fault and there’s nothing you can do

You turn to whatever takes away the enormous pain in your soul

Maybe an eating, disorder, drugs, alcohol, cutting or whatever makes you think you have control

It works on you day and night

To convince you to give up the fight

The war inside of you that started from birth

To take your life and destroy your self worth

To never let you see who you really are created to be

To keep you from ever knowing the only one who could break you free

Sometimes these things won’t happen and you will have comforts of all kinds

A nice family and home and no worries in your mind

It will keep you complacent and dependent on the things the world says you need

With an endless appetite you’ll need to continue to feed

It wants to keep you from discovering inside you the place

And keep you from the only one who is meant to fill that space

It works tirelessly to keep you from ever knowing

Leaving you empty and never growing

But there is one who will pursue you and wait for you to understand

That He’s always been there holding out His right hand

To finally let Him inside of your heart

Where He was always meant to be from the start

Where He will replace the lies and deception in your mind every day

With promises in His word, teaching you how to pray

It will always try to come back, but you’ll be aware of the war

He will strengthen you and remind you what you were created for

It will try to come back and remind you of who you were before

It will try and pull you back in and ignore

That no matter what you have and will ever still do

That God has and will always love you

It will always try to pull you back in promising you with lies

Sin wrapped in a beautiful disguise

It’s easy to listen and follow when things are going great

But there will be seasons in this life you will have to wait

Seasons of suffering and loss in this broken world we live in

It will try it’s hardest to win

And if you mess up and give into the temptations

Because of your very human limitations

Remember why Jesus on this earth was sent

Turn back from your sin and repent

Remember His mercies are new everyday

Stay close with Him and pray

It won’t ever give up because it knows you’ll be a threat

Remember this and don’t ever forget

If it’s bothering you, then you’re bothering it too

It will come back sometimes trying to lie to you

But you will be prepared

There is not one reason to be scared

God already told us of his fate

The liar and the one who spews hate

“The devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and false prophet were, and they were tormented day and night forever and ever ”Revelation 20:10”

His fate is sealed. He’s not that clever

In this world that will give false promises and every distraction

That looks for likes and reactions

For the approval and acceptance and need to be seen

With a liar keeping them from ever knowing what it means

In this life He gave us, he created us to be seen by Him

With Him living inside of us, we will always win

Jesus died for you and me

He gave His life so we could be free

Do you know it’s a liar who wants to keep you trapped in bondage and a prison

Leaving you blind without vision

It wants you stay and live in the places you fell

It wants to drag you right down with him to Hell

Do you know you don’t have to go there with him to that place?

Take the Lord’s hand, look up and seek His face

Remember the liar wants to take your life and steal and kill

Don’t ever give up because the God who made you never will

Grab His and and hold on tight

Don’t give up on the fight

The liar will try to steal your soul

Because it knows it has lost control

You were always God’s, He’s called you his own

He’s always with you, you’re never alone Your heart and soul was never for the liar to steal

The empty spaces inside of them are real

It’s perfectly shaped like God’s image in your soul

He’s the only one who can make it whole

You have a choice of life or death, so what’s it going to be?

Make sure you choose wisely

God won’t make you to take His hand

He won’t force you to want understand

Choose to let him in the deepest parts of your heart where you have kept Him out

Choose to give it all to Him, even the doubt

He waits for you to choose him because he’s already chosen you

The gift you are to this world he already knew

Learn and hear the truth knowing It’s one of two places, Heaven or Hell that you’ll be going

He gives us the free will to choose

Just make it knowing all you have to lose

It’s a life just lived here gaining the world but losing your soul

Where you give the liar all the control

Or it’s letting go of this life and giving it to the God who made you with His love

And living for eternity with Him in heaven above
